Vacuum Transport Research Seminar
The University of Oldenburg and the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer are offering advanced research Modules for Bachelor and Master students. Part of those research modules is the „Vacuum Transport Research Seminar“. For upcoming projects register for the Bachelor course „Hyperloop Technologies“ or the Master course „Hyperloop Engineering“ at the University of Oldenburg or the „WPF Hyperloop Project WS20“ at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer.
The EuroTube Foundation (www.eurotube.org) and the universities are working on a large variety of research topics in the field of vacuum transport (e.g. Hyperloop) and related areas: magnetic levitation, cooling systems, safety systems, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, power electronics, communication & control systems, mechatronic & performance research, laboratory demonstrators, transport Applications and feasibility case studies. Together with the student team Swissloop (www.swissloop.ch) as the Host, the seminar „Vacuum Transport Technologies“ will be held online with presentations from student research projects, as well as talks by industry experts.
The demand for air transport has more than doubled in the last 20 years and is growing yearly with about 6.5%. Global demand for cargo and passenger transportation can today barely be met – let alone in a sustainable manner. Vacuum transport can replace short to medium distance flights and can significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The market of high-speed transportation is a global megatrend set to affect our lives in the years to come.
The University of Oldenburg (UOL), University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer (HSEL) and EuroTube are pursuing long-term support for research and education in vacuum transport. Additionally, a large number of student teams in Europe are actively working on prototypes to test new technologies and actively pursue a European Hyperloop Competition.
The Vacuum Transport Seminar enters another round in winter-semester 2020! This time the University of Oldenburg, University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer and the ETH Zürich are joining forces to provide the joint seminar as of October. Please find the schedule below.
Join us every second Monday to shape the future of transport together. During our seminar, held by Swissloop, EuroTube, the University of Oldenburg and the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer we present updates of our work, share important news and discuss problems and potential solutions. Students present their work and progress of their projects and industry experts are invited for short insight talks. The seminar is open to all students and you can join without application at one of the dates.
Location: Online using Zoom
Time: 18:00-19:00
